School attendance is the actual presence of a pupil at school or away from school on a school day and engaged in an educational activity which is a part of the approved instructional program. 

Age Requirements for School Attendance

All children who will have attained the age of six (6) years by February 1 of any school year or who are older than six (6) years of age, but have not attained the age of 18 years must attend school regularly during the entire school term.

Pre-kindergarten

Children who have attained the age of three (3) years on or before September 1 of the school year are eligible for admission to pre-kindergarten early intervention programs during that school year.

Kindergarten

A child entering kindergarten for the first time must be five (5) years old on or before September 1 of the school year. 

First Grade

A child entering first grade must be six (6) years old on or before September 1 of the school year and must have satisfactorily completed the requirements for kindergarten in a public school or a non public school from which the school district accepts transfer of academic credit. 

Certificate of Immunization      

All students must have a valid certificate of immunization or exemption on file before enrolling in or attending school.  Specific immunizations are listed on the health page. 

School-entry Physical Examination

Within thirty (30) school days of a child's initial entry to a school in the state of Florida, the principal shall require evidence of a physical examination performed within one year prior to the date of entry.
